Fashion’s Night Out: The Show – Blake Lively In Marchesa

Blake Lively also attended “Fashion’s Night Out: The Show” at the Lincoln Center in New York City last night.

She also opted for something short and sassy.

Her Marchesa Resort 2011 yellow and sapphire fully beaded tribal strapless mini dress was worn without the matching beaded crop pants.

The curse of the black pump strikes again, which is strange considering that her dress is yellow and blue not yellow and black.

However the cuff coordinates well with her dress.

I know many of you will take issue with her beachy California simple ponytail, but I’m just grateful she wore her hair off her face for this look.

I’m so glad to see her having fun in this stunning dress on the red carpet.

Runway To Sidewalk – Beyonce Knowles In Matthew Williamson

Mr and Mrs Carter are so busy with their careers that they are often on opposite ends of the world.

He is currently in Paris promoting his new album whilst Beyonce Knowles is touring in Australia.

On one particularly sunny day Beyonce was spotted out and about wearing a cute Matthew Williamson Spring 2009 cream dress covered in floral embroidery details.

She paired her dress with a pink Alexander McQueen bag and blue suede shoes.

At one show she reduced the audience to tears after paying a touching tribute to a young girl with leukaemia in Sydney, Australia.

The star embraced young fan Chelsea in her arms as she belted out a touching version of her ballad Halo.

Her little fan filled the arena with emotion as she mouth along the words with her superstar idol.

This woman really has a heart of gold.

“Happy Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend” Chopard Event

These three leggy beauties attended the “Happy Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend” Chopard Event during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival last night.

Naomi Campbell: The supermodel wore a sexy black Emilio Pucci mini Fall 2010 dress with Sergio Rossi ‘Asteria’ sandals. She looks radiant. That smile could light up a room.

Uma Thurman: The actress continues her love affair with Dolce & Gabbana by opted to wear the same Dolce & Gabbana lace black dress and the same Giuseppe Zanotti crystal-embellished T-bar sandals she recently worn on the Jimmy Fallon show.

Bar Rafaeli: The model never met a short dress she didn’t like. On this occasion she showed Mr DiCaprio what he’s missing wearing a black and navy blue sequined Roberto Cavalli strapless mini dress. Love the dress, but those shoes are too heavy for this mini.

All the ladies wore Chopard jewels.

Lunching With Lulu

“I was in a romantic mood this time around,” Lulu Kennedy reported at the star-studded lunch to celebrate the Fall collection from her supergroup-style label, Lulu & Co., at the very swank Harry’s Bar, a venue that’s light-years away from her gritty home turf in East London. Kennedy (pictured, right) is the founder of Fashion East, the legendary talent incubator that’s spawned the likes of Gareth Pugh, Jonathan Saunders, Richard Nicoll, and Roksanda Ilincic, and for her namesake label, she collaborates with her protegés and other young guns of interest. Her mood this year led her to include a few couples as collaborators, including artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster, besties Bella Freud (center) and Susie Bick, and photographer and art director Patrick Waugh and Alistair McLellan. Kennedy and business partner Tania Fares (left) created Lulu & Co. last year to celebrate a decade of Fashion East, and it proved so popular they did it again. As last season, there’s a retrospective shine over the whole. “This year, it’s a mix of Fashion East past and present,” Kennedy said. “We have the couples who are new, but also the old—the journeymen of Fashion East like Jonny Saunders and Richard Nicoll. We worked hard at making the clothes more affordable and wearable.” (There’s a word not always top of mind for Kennedy’s kindred on their own runways.) Charlotte Dellal, Mary McCartney (Stella’s photographer sister), Camilla Al Fayed, Sara Parker Bowles, Liberty Ross, and a clutch of designers including Roland Mouret, Erdem Moralioglu (below left), Roksanda Ilincic, Nicholas Kirkwood (below right), and Marios Schwab all stopped by to toast to the new. (Though Harry’s did make for a bit of culture clash—Henry Holland tweeted that he needed to get special dispensation to enter wearing his shorts.)Of course, as more and more interest is directed at London’s new garde, there’ll be plenty more meet-ups of the gritty and the glamorous. England has just gotten a stylish new royal client of particularly high profile, and one wonders if she’ll be as receptive to young U.K. designers as her counterpart of sorts, Michelle Obama, has been to young Americans. “I think her McQueen wedding dress was beautiful, but I think now she should turn her eye to some other U.K. designers,” Kennedy said. “We are working on Resort now with Roksanda, and there is this gorgeous black and white draped number and I thought, wow, this dress needs an occasion and certainly [the Duchess of Cambridge] will have plenty of those. We will send her the lookbook, so fingers crossed. I mean, Mrs. Obama chose Roksanda, so here’s hoping that the Duchess will, too.”—Afsun Qureshi

Paula Patton For Harper’s Bazaar Arabia December 2011

‘Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol’ star Paula Patton looks breath-taking on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia which was shot by John Russo and styled by Sally Matthews wearing a Mauzan abaya dress over a gold sequined Cavalli mini dress.

Where was Sally when Paula needed her for the MI4 promo tour?

The actress dons Yves Saint Laurent and Jason Wu for the rest of her editorial.

Here are some extract from her interview:

On her favourite designers: My favorite designers right now are probably Dolce & Gabbana first and foremost, I love the femininity of their clothes. They’ll go a bit retro but give you enough modern elements that make it new and free. I’m a big fan of Lanvin, and for evening gowns, Carolina Herrera and I love McQueen.

On how she keeps her famous physique intact: “Sometimes I do yoga, sometimes it’s kickboxing, sometimes it’s weight training, sometimes it’s pilates. Basically still trying to keep the muscles there, so that when the next role comes it won’t feel quite as difficult. I don’t want to have to go through that first month again. Read more…

Roberto Cavalli Spring 2010

On Saturday I attended Roberto Cavalli’s Spring 2010 collection. The collection had a heavy mix of feminine and masculine pieces.

I found it very interesting that Cavalli known for very overtly sexy looks, opted to pair soft feminine floaty dresses with pant suits. It had a ‘wear all your clothes at once’ type of feel to it.

A maxi print dress would billow down the runway with pinstriped pants and a blazer, or just pants revealing an open back.

Die hard Cavalli fans may have been shocked by this change in direction, but he did show some more feminine sexy gowns and dresses towards the end of the presentation.

These pink and ivory dresses were very cute and girlie with ruffled details going across the body or down one shoulder.

The colour palette wasn’t as bright as I had expected. Greys, creams, pinks, ivory and navy was presented with of course lots of floral prints.

It will be interesting to see if these looks are worn like the runway, or the feminine and masculine pieces are separated.

Here is a picture of the backdrop after the show. I loved it as it looked like the veranda of a beautiful country garden home.

The show moved so fast, that this was the only picture I took from the show that came out well.

Nina Garcia is the one in the white dress in the front row, who was sitting with the rest of her Marie Claire team.

Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2012

Jason Wu’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection was one of his most luxurious and sophisticated to date.

‘Charley Harper meets the Maharaja’ is how Jason describes his collection. By mixing the rich colour palette of the Maharajah with the graphic work of Harper, he has created a charismatic collection.

With camel, black and navy as the grounding colours, the collection has vibrant burnt orange, leafy greens and rich burgundy.

Jason continues to play up masculinity meets femininity with sporty sweaters and buttoned-up blouses paired with tailored colour-block pants and oversized coats. A navy brocade tuxedo with a black-sheer blouse makes for a strong, seductive look.

On the flip side, dainty patterned A-line dresses have a retro vibe, but with a cinched leather knotted belt and long leather gloves they keep the look modern.

Fitted dresses with long-knit or sheer sleeves ooze 60s glamour, which I can picture being favoured by Dita von Teese.

A richly embroidered camel cape was my favourite from Jason’s outerwear, but he also presented a navy windowpane Victorian cape coat and an anorak ‘suit’.

Other standout details included opulent embroidery, houndstooth panelling, and leather and sequined collars.

For the red carpet Jason went for dark, romantic, seductive elegance which I can picture on many gorgeous brunettes plus Diane Kruger, of course.

Favourites: Short sleeve sweater with colour-block pants and navy brocade tuxedo

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Rachel Weisz, Diane Kruger, Angelina Jolie, Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, Leighton Meester, Hilary Swank, Michelle Monaghan, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Liv Tyler, Michelle Obama, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Freida Pinto
